TV Tuner Image Quality
The signal isn't the best in my area, but I've plugged the All-In-Wonder X800GT directly in to the aerial socket next to my television along with a booster to get the best possible signal in the circumstances. I have to say that I didn't think my signal was quite as poor as the All-In-Wonder X800GT makes it out to be in analogue mode. On the left is the digital tuner picture, on the right is the analogue tuner picture.
The first two sets of screens are captured using the capture tool inside MultiMedia Center. The clickable fullsized images have not been modified, they're pretty clear and give a good indication of how different the two signal outputs are. If the signal for a certain channel is reasonably poor - you will experience choppiness using the digital tuner, so you can only really use the digital tuner if you get a good enough signal to recieve the broadcast smoothly. This isn't ATI's fault by any means, because it happens with DVB-T enabled set top boxes too - you either get the channel or you don't, in very simple terms.
The final set of screens were taken with a FujiFilm FinePix S602-Zoom using a tripod at 3.0MPix and then scaled down to 800x600 using Adobe Photoshop. The differences between the two aren't quite as big, but there is still a noticeable difference in the level of interferance that we were experiencing using the analogue tuner.
